GVS brings home win on the road at Middlesex School

Happy to be playing under blue skies on a Wednesday afternoon, GVS traveled to Middlesex for their first away game of the season. While Andover kept the offensive pressure on, the team didn't find the back of the net until 17 minutes remaining in the first half. Captain Emily Mara '25 found Sarah Powers '26, who recently returned to the field after an early season injury, in front of the net. Powers always-gritty play in the six yard box pushed the Big Blue 1-0 headed into halftime.

The second half of play led to more exciting chances for the Blue including two off the post strikes. Captain Mara secured the 2-0 win with an unassisted goal in the final minutes of play.

Goalkeeper Jill Reichenbach '24 impressed and earned her second shutout of the season - with a notably spectacular diving save late in the second half to keep Middlesex at bay. Lily Keim '25 came off the bench to provide an important spark.

Sarah Powers was named Player of the Game. Thank you to the Powers family for providing snacks and to all our fans who supported us on the road. GVS returns to Smoyer Field on Saturday where they will face Class A power Loomis Chaffee.
