GVS shines on Senior Night earning 6-0 W

What a special night celebrating our seniors: captain Ava Davey, captain Emily Mara captain Hayden Fischer, Sophia Cratty, Ginny Marshall, Lauren Herlihy and Lily Keim. GVS earned their third straight shutout and extended their unbeaten streak to eight straight games with an impressive 6-0 win versus Lawrence Academy.

Emily Mara put Andover on the scoreboard at the 25 minute mark with a blast from the top of the 18. With five minutes remaining in the first half, Mara found Wylie Roossien at the far post for a great put-away to bring GVS into the half with a 2-0 edge.

In the opening minutes of the 2nd half, Wylie struck again with a blast from the edge of the box to extend the lead to 3-0. Minutes later off a throw in, GVS moved the ball to the weak side with Wylie finding Emily Decker who hit an incredible shot to the side netting. Mara scored on a PK and captain Hayden Fisher wrapped up the scoring on an assist from Mura Daisley, bringing the crowd to its feet with her signature Maradona move. Captain Hayden Fischer was named Player of the Game.

This said, what we celebrated most of all was every single GVS player getting quality time on Phelps Stadium in front of an incredible crowd of family and friends. Jackie Dill and Deli Russell earned the shutout in net.

Just as special as the game was the senior celebration and tributes to follow in the Title IX room. We love our seven GVS seniors..s

GVS looks forward to the week ahead which culminates in Andover-Exeter next Saturday. GVS' record stands at 11-3-3.
