Andover GJV2 season opens up with a close loss to Groton
Andover's first game of the year was a tight game with a strong Groton squad. Andover opened the scoring in the first half when Riya Shah was pulled down in the box on a breakaway resulting in a PK. Mia Russell converted the PK to give Andover the 1-0 lead. Right at the start of the second half, Groton scored twice in a minute to pull ahead and the score stayed 2-1 despite strong pressure from Andover attempting to tie it up. Goalie Alex Kenly made numerous fantastic saves to keep Andover in the game, as Groton kept up offensive pressure all game long. Andover will look to get in the win column next week at Brooks.
