Andover GJV2 earns a tough win at Deerfield

Andover girls JV2 earned a tough win at Deerfield behind great work from Ava Robinson and Kierra Ong stepping in to cover the goal for the game. Ashley Zhu opened the scoring with a blast from outside the box near then end of the 1st half. Lara Kim added another goal on an assist from Daphne Malle to give Andover a 2-0 lead. With 17 minutes left, Andover went down two players in the span of a minute due to injury and with no subs, suddenly were faced with an extended 11 on 9 situation. Deerfield took advantage and pressured Andover repeatedly, finally netting a goal to pull within one. The nine Andover players then rallied and put pressure on the Deerfield defense again and drew a penalty kick on a foul in the box. Nadine Carniaux converted the kick to put Andover back up by two goals. Andover was then able to keep thwarting the Deerfield offense and Kierra Ong made several key saves to seal the win.
