Andover falls short and drops a 29-42 meet against Exeter

Big Blue traveled to Exeter to wrestle Deerfield, Hyde, and Exeter.

Andover and Exeter both went into their third and final meet of the day with 2-0 records. Big Blue started strong, with pins from Riggs McGrath ’21, Eamon Garrity-Rokous ’20, and Nick Buehler ’21 to put Andover in the lead 18-6. Andover lost the next two bouts, but Arnav Bhakta ’22 rallied the team with an exciting tech. pin at 106, and maintained the lead 24-15. Colin Nugent ’23 defeated his Exeter opponent by technical fall 16-0, and gave Andover the 29-24 edge. Unfortunately Andover dropped the next four matches, and fell to a strong Exeter team 29-42.

Big Blue goes 2-1 for the day, and looks forward to the Bidstrup duals at Tabor Academy next Saturday. The team is now 7-4 overall, and 5-1 in the Class A league.
