Andover advances dual meet record to 4-1 with first home win of the season

The Wilbraham & Monson Titans made the trip to Andover today for a Wednesday dual meet. Nick Buehler ’21 put Andover’s first points on the board with a first period pin. After a few forfeits, the next match was Jeremiah Baez ’23, who won hist first varsity match of the year at 126 lbs with an exciting first-period pin. Colin Nugent ’23 bumped up to 132 to wrestle a tough opponent, and after taking a 12-0 lead, he pinned his opponent in the second period to score 6 team points for Andover. Co-captain Marisol Nugent ’20 followed up with a first-period pin of her own. Andover dropped the next few matches, but co-captain Eamon Garrity-Rokous ‘20 ended the dual on a positive note for Andover with a first period pin, solidifying Andover’s win. The final team score was 42-36. Arnav Bhakta ’22 and Oscar Bunting ’21 also scored pins in their exhibition matches. This Saturday seven wrestlers journey to Tabor Academy for the Battle on the Bay tournament before heading home for winter break.
