Team Abbot leads in team points with 2 champions

Team Abbot walked away with the team title at the 2nd annual St. Paul’s Girls tournament. 14 wrestlers competed for Big Blue and 12 wrestlers placed in the top 5 of their weight classes. Leading the way were Nor DeHoog ’24 and Toni Elliott ’27. Nor went 2-0 with two first period pins to win the 235 lb weight class. Toni went 3-0, with two first period pins and one pin at 5:35 to secure first place in the 165 lb weight class. At 114 lb Sakina Cotton ’24 went 2-1, with a tough loss in the final to her NMH opponent. At 120 Eva Murphy ’25 went 2-1, winning 8-1 in her quarterfinal match and 9-0 in her semifinal match, and losing 16-0 in the finals to a nationally ranked opponent from Choate. At 152 Bella Shmuylovich ‘26 won her semifinals match by pin, and fell to her St. Paul’s opponent in the finals after a tough back and forth battle. At 114 lbs Suhaila Cotton ‘24 went 4-1 and placed 3rd; her only loss was to the eventual champion in the semifinals, and the rest of her matches she won by pin in the first period. At 126 Julia Carmona ‘24 went 2-1 and placed 3rd, avenging her first round lost to her NMH opponent by winning 5-3 in the third place match. At 165 lbs Isa Matloff ’24 went 1-2 and took 3rd place after a first period pin in the second round. At 185 lbs McKenzie Williams ‘24 won her first match of her wrestling career, went 3-1 on the day with two pins and a 3-1 decision to take 3rd place. At 120 lbs Tasha Bohorad ‘26 went 2-2 with two pins on the day to earn 4th place. At 152 lbs Lisa De Boer won her first match of her wrestling career by pin, and went 1-2 to secure 4th place. At 126 lbs Ophelia Lee went 1-2 to place 5th. Also competing well for Andover were Alessandra Woo at 107 lbs and Grace Kim at 126 lbs.
