Andover goes 2-1 at first ever NEPSAC girls varsity quad

Team Abbot traveled to Choate for the first ever girls varsity quad, along with NMH and Exeter.

Abbot took on Exeter first. At 132 Tasha Bohorad ’26 defeated her opponent 14-0. At 145 Cindy Zhou pinned her opponent in the first period. At 235 Toni Elliott pinned her opponent in the first period. At 126 Ophleia Lee pinned her opponent in 45 seconds. Gauri Bhakta ’28 and Bella Shmuylovich ’26 won by forfeit, giving Andover the victory 34-16.

Abbot wrestled Choate next. At 138 Cindy Zhou ’27 pinned her opponent in the second period. At 165 Bella Shmuylovich ‘26 pinned in 1:02, and at 185 Toni Elliott ’27 pinned in 1:32. At 107 Serra Akyali ’28 pinned in 32 seconds. Unfortunately Abbot lost all the other matches, losing the dual meet 24-42 to the returning New England Champions. In an exhibition match, Akyali ’28 defeated Choate’s Olivia Mancha in ultimate tie breaker 4-3.

Lastly Abbot took on NMH. At 145 Cindy Zhou ’27 pinned her opponent in the second period. At 165 Bella Shmuylovich ’26 pinned her opponent in the second period; and at 185 Toni Elliott ’27 pinned her opponent in 54 seconds. At 114 Serra Akyali ’28 defeated her opponent 8-0. At 120 Gauri Bhakta ’28 pinned her opponent, and co-captains Ophelia Lee ’26 and Tasha Bohorad ’26 followed up with quick pins of their own, winning the dual 40-12.

Zhou ’27, Shmuylovich ’26, Elliott ’27, and Akyali ’28 all went undefeated on the day.
