Julian Rios represents Big Blue at Beast of the East
On Saturday Julian Rios ’26 competed for Big Blue in the boys’ division of Beast of the East. He pinned his Lakeland Regional opponent in 1:22; pinned his Archbishop Spaulding opponent in 1:36; and defeated his Dowington West opponent 6-0 to advance to day 2. In the quarterfinals on Sunday morning he pinned his Pope John XXIII opponent in 1:36, advancing to the semfinals. He lost a tough semifinals match 3-1 to his Delbarton opponent. In the consi-semifinals he fell 7-2 to his Gilman School opponent, and after an injury in his last match, he lost in OT to his Council Rock North opponent, and placed 6th.
This was Andover’s first time competing at the Beast of the East tournament, notoriously one of the toughest in-season national tournaments, and we are so proud of our wrestlers. We look forward to the rest of the season and getting ready for Prep Nationals!
