BXC Runs to Big PRs Against Exeter
The Andover boys welcomed Exeter to the home course, and against that great competition, BXC runners registered 41 PR performances on the day. The inspired running from PA wasn't enough, however, as the visitors took both Varsity and JV contests.
The Varsity race saw Andover's #1, Tam Gavenas ('25), and Exeter's #1, Byron Grevious (PEA, '24), do what they have done all season: make history. Both runners bested the previous course record by significant margins with Grevious taking the individual win and setting the new standard. Gavenas raced brilliantly right behind Grevious and well below his own previous school record time, set last fall. Congratulations to both runners! Andover's second, Max Huang ('24), ran a blistering time in his last race on the home course to capture third overall. Andover's chase pack of Luke Williamson ('25), Jakob Kuelps ('25), Arun Kapoor ('25), Robert Budzinski ('26), and Sebastian Lemberger ('25) challenged each other the whole way, racing to PR or near-PR performances.
On the JV side, Luke Francis ('25) paced BXC with a huge race up front to take third overall. Captain Avin Ramratnam ('24) rebounded from an off-day last Saturday to register his fastest time on the home course, and he was followed by classmate Vance Fabrizio ('24), who ran the best race of his XC career at the perfect time. Right behind Fabrizio, Emmet McEvilley ('24) and Charlie Gillick ('27), pushed each other all the way through the Great Lawn in PR performances. Nathan Neu ('26) and Sami Tokat ('26) also ran PR times to round out Andover's top seven.
Next week, BXC will travel to Loomis Chaffee to compete in the NEPSTA Division I XC Championships (Interschols).
