Vs High Mowing
Today, BVS hosted High Mowing on Smoyer field in Andover, MA. Despite the marsh field conditions, the Big Blue team played mellow against a well-organized High Mowing team with great individual talent all over the pitch. To contain HM, the Big Blue needed a solid team effort both defensively and on the attack. Jack Alexander ‘25 was excellent in goal and organized his back four well all afternoon, which helped him reduce the number of shots that he had to deal with. The back four led by Garrett Holman ’24 played a key role in getting the Big Blue team's attack going, and their play was excellent. The quality of the midfield play was also great, and Zane Matraji ’24 and Ellis Denby ’24 continue to play well and improve with each practice and game. Louis-Thomas Vincent ’25 got his first start of the season at CDM, and as the game progressed, his play improved as well.
In the attack, Kai Myles ‘27 was dangerous and got on the scoreboard after receiving an excellent over-the-top ball from Garrett Holman ’24, who broke through the visiting back-four. Myles calmly collected the ball, cut it back to send his defender one way, and drove home a low shot past the visiting Goalkeeper. The goal gave the Big Blue team confidence for the rest of the game, and the team began to enjoy more possession. At halftime, the score was one-nil.
In the second half, the Big Blue team displayed great teamwork as all team members were able to partake in a great team win. The Big Blue team got its second goal via Marc Nelson ‘25, who finished a beautiful ball played by Spencer Salhanick ’24, who broke from his back line to deliver a perfect pass between the visitors.
A great team win for the home side who looks forward to hosting the always-talented Northfield Mount Hermon squad this coming Saturday. See you there!
