Points shared on Smoyer vs Milton

Andover, MA - Second game of the season was against the #1 ranked team in New England Milton Academy. Milton pressured the home team high up the pitch in the first stanza and demonstrated excellent technical and individual quality. The Big Blue came ready for the challenge, and under the leadership of captains Christien Merritt, Ethan Hong, Derek Polanco, and Adam Hassanein, the Big Blue showed composure all afternoon. While Milton enjoyed possession, the home team generated equal scoring opportunities in the first half. That said, both teams went ended the first half 0-0. In the second half, Milton kept the high pressure and the Big Blue countering. The clearest chance came via Christien Merritt ‘22, who broke through visitors the backline and took a fantastic shot that was equally met by an incredible save by the Milton keeper. Both teams could not find the back of the net on the day, a show of excellent defending on both sides of the pitch. In the afternoon, The Big Blue backline led by Garrett Holman ’24 and Ellis Denby ‘24 held firm all afternoon and limited the visitors to 8 shots. Hope to see you this coming Friday at Phelps Stadium as we go up against #2 in New England, Loomis Chaffee.
