A Battle of the Undefeateds
What a great day for soccer! With friends and families out in great number the boys JV3 soccer team put on quite the show against Deerfield Academy. While outmatched in size, the Big Blue had the better skills, and both teams put forth their best efforts. Andover scored first, with Nicholas Smith putting in his own rebound just 7 minutes into the match. Deerfield equalized ten minutes later, finding holes in the defense and beating the keeper with a driving shot. Andover went back ahead when Dom Pieroni took a free kick at a tight angle and a Deerfield defender’s clearing header only nudged the shot into the goal. The game was 2-1 at the break, but Deerfield came out on fire and evened the score with just 2 minutes off the clock in the second half. The rest of the game was non-stop action, but neither team converted. Both teams remain undefeated heading into the last stretch of the season.
