Opening Day For JV3 Boys Soccer a Resounding Success

Not only was the game at Brooks the first game of the season for the boys JV3 soccer team, but it was also the first time the players were wearing Andover on their chest. The team did the school proud with their performance—great sportsmanship, teamwork, and a 4-1 victory! With 17 enthusiastic members of the class of 2028 on the team, it was also a novelty to go from small-sided scrimmages in practice to a full 11 v. 11 game.

With outstanding performances from goaltenders Ned Benner and Carter Havemeyer, and central backs Dustin Cho and Alex Godsey, local opponent Brooks was held to just one goal. Andover’s offense was led by Sebastian Djerejian’s 2 goals and 1 assist. Ren Oh had the opening goal, and Vedant Bajaj closed out the scoring with a goal off his head coming off a corner kick.

The Brooks team fought hard all game and the Big Blue matched the physical play. The aggressive style displayed by both teams was entertaining for all the fans. Even with a win the team is hoping to improve on their performance in the weeks ahead.
