BV Swimming at NEPSAC Division 1 Swimming Championships (Exeter)

One Week After 100% Personal or Season Best Times, Andover Hangs on for 11th New England Title

(Exeter, NH) – Two years into the Pandemic, the New England Prep School Swimming community gathered again for the first time since 2020. No doubt, each team had a challenging journey to this point: closed pools, quarantines and isolations, not to mention all the other consequences of COVD-19 that have harmed so many and in so many ways.

In many ways, Andover had a most fortunate season. Although the squad did only 80% of its normal training, the team remained healthy. Although the squad was young and inexperienced—of the 21 members of this year’s varsity team, only eight were on the team in 2020—the team had 100% personal or season best performances at Easterns. In the past, Andover has been able to perform well at both Easterns and New Englands. This year, with so little training to rely upon, doing so proved much harder.

Still, throughout a very close meet with an excellent squad from Brunswick—a squad who had an excellent chance, but for the cancelation, to win its first championships last year—Andover scrapped to accrue just enough points to win another New England championship.
