Andover Falls to Suffield 13-28
Andover welcomed Suffield for a Friday evening contest. Andover received the opening kickoff and drove down to the Suffield 1-yard line where Jun An ’27 pushed the ball in for a touchdown to open the score (PAT Quentin Nicolasien ’27). Andover’s defense came up big on the next drive when Thane McCormick ’27 forced a fumble that Nick Marini ’28 recovered, giving the offense good field position. A promising offensive drive stalled, and a 24-yard field attempt was blocked, but Andover still held a 7-0 lead. Suffield tied the score with a touchdown and was driving again towards the end of the 2nd quarter. Andover’s defense responded and stopped the Suffield attack when Armani Pereira ’27 picked off a pass just before halftime, leaving the halftime score at a 7-7 tie. Suffield relied on their potent run game in the 3rd quarter to take a 7-point lead. An Andover turnover then set up another Suffield score, extending their lead to 14 points. Andover got back on the board when Landon Husereau ’28 launched a pass from 7 yards out to Ubie Zaid ’27 who made a spectacular one-handed catch in the corner of the endzone. Andover’s PAT was not successful, which brought the score to 13-21 going into the 4th quarter. As the rain poured down and the wind picked up, both teams battled through the 4th quarter with little offensive success. Suffield was able to seal the victory with a final touchdown, bringing the final score to 13-28.
Andover moves to 3-2 on the season and travels to Brunswick next week.
