Andover Dominates 35-7 at Suffield

Andover’s offense exploded for 35 points while the defense held Suffield’s offense scoreless for a decisive win. On the first drive of the game, Cale Barker ’28 found Ollie Velez ’26 for a 32-yard touchdown to open the score (PAT Quentin Nicolaisen ’27). After a stop by the defense, Andover gave up its only points of the day, an interception return by Suffield for a touchdown. The Big Blue attack responded on the very next drive, with a big 62-yard pass, again from Barker to Velez, that set up a 2-yard touchdown pass from Barker to Michael Vallarelli ’27 to retake the lead. In what would become a common refrain on the day, the defense took the ball right back from Suffield on the next series when Tyler Baty ’27 picked off a Suffield pass. This was the first of 4 total turnovers created by the defense, with the others being a sack by Nathaniel McCormick ’27 that forced a fumble (recovered by Richie Indresano ’26), an interception by Bennett Rodgers ’26, and another interception and 44-yard return by Tommy Ginty ’26. The offense took full advantage of the turnovers, scoring 3 more touchdowns, with Barker finding Will Mascena ’27 for 2 touchdown catches of 9 and 63 yards respectively, and Jun An ’27 punching in the only rushing TD of the day from just outside the 1-yard line. Special teams were solid all day, including a well-executed reverse pass from Velez to Brock Feinberg ’26 for a successful 2-point try.
