Andover Downs Salisbury 30-21

Andover welcomed Salisbury School to campus for a Saturday evening tilt. Salisbury received the opening kickoff and marched down to the 9-yard line before Armani Pereira ’27 picked off a pass in the end zone to end the drive. Andover’s offense took over on its own 20-yard line and moved the ball deep into Salisbury territory. Landon Husereau ’28 found Gio Rosenfeld ’27 on a perfectly placed slant pass from 4 yards out to get Andover on the board (PAT Quentin Nicolasien ’27). Andover’s defense forced a Salisbury punt, and the offense took the ball back down the field for another score. Ubie Zaid ’27 raced into the end zone from 29 yards out (PAT Quentin Nicolasien ’27), extending Andover’s lead to 14-0. Salisbury answered with two touchdowns before the half, bringing the score to 14-14 at intermission.

Andover opened the scoring in the second half with a thrilling 14-yard halfback throw from Ubie Zaid ’27 to Brock Beamish ’27 (PAT Quentin Nicolasien ’27), recapturing the lead 21-14. Salisbury equaled the score again, and the score stood tied 21-21 with just over 9 minutes to play. Andover regained a 7-point lead on the following possession when Ubie Zaid ’27 scampered 66 yards for an amazing touchdown (PAT Quentin Nicolasien ’27). Andover’s defense forced a Salisbury punt on the next possession, but Andover’s offense could not capitalize and stalled around midfield. Caden Schrock ’27 boomed a 54-yard punt that Tyler Baty ’27 deftly downed inside the 1-yard line. Schrock then helped Nate Dubuc ’28 tackle Salisbury’s running back in the endzone on the following play resulting in a safety. Andover’s offense regained the ball with a 30-21 lead after the free kick and kept the ball on the ground to keep the clock running, ending the game in victory formation as time expired.

Andover moves to 2-1 on the season and travels to Kent School next Saturday.
