Andover Rolls 29-6 over Kent

An offensive explosion, coupled with another solid defensive showing, gets Andover its first win of the season. Kent elected to take the ball to start the game, and the Big Blue defense responded with a big 4th down stop deep in its own territory. Cale Barker ’28 then led the Andover offense on a 76-yard scoring drive, capped by a 4-yard TD run by Will Mascena ’27. The Big Blue D came up with another big stop on the following drive, this time on 3rd down, forcing a 27-yard field goal attempt by Kent that sailed wide left. Both offenses stalled on subsequent drives before the Andover D made another big play. Nathaniel McCormick ’27 sacked the Kent QB causing a fumble that was recovered by Brock Feinberg ’26. Andover then drove 52 yards, scoring on a 20-yard pass from Barker to Mascena. Placekicker Quentin Nicolaisen '27 would end up 3-3 on his PAT kicks for the day, but this conversion saw Nate Parker ’26 take the snap and roll out to connect with McCormick on a perfectly executed pass to add 2 points. Barker added a 7-yard touchdown to Michael Vallarelli ’27 and a 3-yard strike to MJ Gaines 26’. Holding Kent to only 6 points, Andover’s defense was led by Tommy Ginty ’26, Thane McCormick ’27, Brock Feinberg ’26, Matthew Saleh ’26, and Bennett Rodgers ’26 who all totaled at least 5 tackles. Jacob Honor 27’ helped seal the victory by recovering an onside kick attempt by Kent.
