Tough Andover Defense Downs Austin Prep

Andover’s defense scored twice on the afternoon to tame a scrappy Austin Prep squad 22-6. Brady Haskell ’28 opened the score with a 59-yard interception return for a touchdown. Penalties and poor execution slowed the Andover offense early on, but a big 4th down stop set up good field position for Andover’s first offensive score, a 7-yard touchdown run by Colin O’Brien ’29. Andover’s defense scored again a few plays later, forcing an intentional grounding penalty in the end zone, resulting in a safety. The final Andover touchdown of the day was also aided by the defense when Colin O’Brien ’29 forced a fumble that was recovered by Enzo Ying ’29. The Andover offense wasted no time taking advantage of the turnover, with Brady Haskell ’29 taking a reverse 50 yards for a touchdown on the very next play. Thomas Perri ’29 added a nice pass to Haskell for the 2-point conversion.
