An all-around incredible Friday afternoon for the Big Blue with 13 wins on 15 contests, varsity and JV, across the day!
What a spectacular Friday afternoon on the Great Lawn for PAXC coached by Patrick Rielly, Keri Lambert, Jeff Domina, Garrett Richie, Austin Campbell, Laura Dzubay, Andrew Cheng, and Dan Schneider. Hosting the first home meet of the season versus St. Paul’s School, NMH and Austin Prep, all four Big Blue teams (boys’ and girls’ varsity/JV) earned wins on the day with 23 personal bests on the boys’side and 13 PRs in the girls’ program.
Senior captain Tam Gavenas ‘25 (pictured above) crossed the finish line in first, establishing a new home course record in spectacular fashion while post-graduate Arashi Hunter ‘25 secured second place on the day. In fact, seven of the top ten runners on the day raced for the Big Blue: Luke Williamson ‘25 (4th), Charlie Gillick ‘27 (5th), Robert Budzinski ‘26 (6th), captain Luke Francis ‘25 and Arun Kapoor ‘25.
On the girls’ side, Zoe von Eckartsberg ('26) raced to her first interscholastic cross-country win in a hugepersonal best performance. Following von Eckartsberg, Chloe Song ('26) also ran to a big personal best to take third overall. Next in for GXC were Anya Budzinski ('26) and newcomer Hannah Jung ('28).
Other personal bests on the day: Ela Budzinski ('28), Corinne Spade ('27), and Emma Hong ('28).
The depth of the XC program was on full display with incredible runs from Henry Zimmerman ‘27, Magnus Julin ‘25, Sebastian Lemberger ‘25 as well as Max Langhorst ‘25, Sami Tokat ‘26, Elliott Weir ‘26, and Nathan Neu ‘26.
On the girls’ JV side, Tasha Bohorad ('26) led the charge followed by Tayla Stempson ('27) who had a PR by TWO minutes!! High fives also to Evelyn Marshall ('28) who finished next with her own 55-second PR and two more PRs for Emily Ney ('27) and Ibu Hada ('25).
Congrats to boys’ varsity soccer coached by Joe Donnelly and Chris Ishizuka-Wade and captained by Sebastian Mejia-Rivera, Spencer Madge, and goalkeeper Jack Alexander, on a big week stringing together 3 wins in 6 days and outscoring opponents, 9-0. On Monday afternoon versus St. Sebastian’sSchool, goals by Marc Nelson ‘25, Madge, and Kai Myles ’27 pushed the team to a 3-2 win.
Undefeated PAFH coached by Kate Dolan, Martha Fenton, Taylor Ware, and Jen Weissbach continues to roll through their schedule behind a full team effort with two shutouts on the week, 6-0 versus Milton and8-0 versus St. Paul’s. Leading the way are PAFH captains Ellie Parker, Neily Ware, and Molly Boyle.
ALSO STILL UNDEFEATED: Just over the mid-way point of the season, all three of our JV boys’ soccer teams remain undefeated!
