After winning its 11th overall Central New England Prep Championship and fourth in the last seven years, Andover placed six players on the 2018 All-Central New England Prep Baseball Team. Anthony Redfern ’18 tops the list, earning Central New England Prep MVP honors. He’s joined by Travis Lane ’18, Joe Simourian ’18, Andrew Ciufo ’19, Tristan Latham ’19, and Jackson Emus ’19.

Headed next year to pitch at division 1 Georgetown University, REDFERN (pictured) surrendered just two runs (one earned) in 46.0 innings for an ERA of 0.15, paired with an unblemished 6-0 pitching record and a pair of saves. He saved his best for the playoffs, hurling a complete-game two-hit shutout as Andover blanked archrival Exeter 8-0 in the Central New England Prep Championship game.

A four-year starter on the mound and at first base, Lane – who’ll play collegiately at Boston College – posted a particularly strong senior season, finishing 8-1 on the mound, while pacing the offense with 17 RBIs. Simourian, who’ll play collegiately at the U.S. Naval Academy, played sparkling defense in centerfield while pacing the offense with a whopping 29 runs scored from the leadoff spot. Ciufo led the team in hitting at .447 and slugged a tape-measure home run in the first inning of the Central New England Prep Championship game, while Latham started 21 games at catcher, batted a robust .431, and paced the offense with 13 doubles. Emus – a Princeton University commit – starred on the mound and in the field, posting a 4-0 pitching record and 0.64 ERA (three earned runs in 32.2 innings), while batting .316 with 13 RBIs from the cleanup spot.

Andover finished the season at 20-2, ranked No. 1 in New England according to the New England Baseball Journal’s year-end coaches poll.
