Shout-out to our Class A New England defending champions, field hockey (pictured above), on a 6-0 win over Brooks School this past Wednesday. Undefeated PAFH has tallied 14 goals in their first two games. PAFH is captained by Regan Driscoll, Kimee Duplessis & Wendi Wei and coached by Kate Dolan, Martha Fenton and Taylor Ware.
JV field hockey team, coached by Steph Curci and Deb Chase, earned a season-opening win v. Pingree School on Wednesday afternoon with goals by Eve Kirkman and Clara Go, and a shutout in net thanks to goalkeeper Bea Bielenberg.
An exciting 12-7 Big Blue water polo win over Phillips Exeter - leading the way was captain Victor Hillier with five goals and ninth grader Henry Wehner with four goals. Goalkeepers Hugo Appen and Owen Burke came up with seven and four saves, respectively.
On Wednesday afternoon, JV football, coached by Gene Hughes, Chris Capano, Allen Grimm, and Jake Montanaro, found their way to an impressive 28-12 win versus St. Sebastien’s School - the first win against St. Seb’s in Gene Hughes’ tenure as head coach! Shout-out to JV players who led the effort: Ben Bellissimo ‘29, Teddy Heffernan ‘29, Liam Cahill ‘30, and Seba Alvez ‘30.
Girls’ Varsity Soccer (pictured above) had an exciting home-opening win versus Milton Academy on Wednesday afternoon. Senior Maddie Shin scored the difference-maker as GVS won, 1-0.
As we hit the weekend, we saw many outdoor contests cancelled...but alas, cross country rolls on. Early Staurday morning, PAXC went north to New Hampshire for the Black Bear Invitational. The varsity squad placed 5th out of 19 teams. They were led by Cameron Butler ('28), who ran a 20-second season best, followed by 9th grader Lincoln Strandberg ('30), who ran a personal best, and EJ Montero ('30), who made his 5k debut, followed three seconds later by Devin Akyali ('29). Captain Henry Zimmerman ('27) rounded out the varsity scorers with a 31-second season best, followed by Aaron Blanchard ('28) in his season debut and newcomer Gabriel Arroyo Cisneros ('30) in his 5k debut. Darin Young ('29) ran a personal best by 1 minute and 37 seconds.
The boys JV squad placed 4th out of 18 teams with Alessandro Reverdito ('29) coming in 8th overall. Teddy Frangakis ('27), Kalis McCoy ('29), Benedict Dwyer ('28), and Russ McLaren ('27) rounded out the scoring pack, all finishing under 20 minutes. Finally, the JV squad also hosted a number of personal bests (PBs) and 5k debuts from Russ McLaren ('27) (PB tie), Gus Habinowski ('29)(1-second PB), Nate Marnandus ('30)(debut), and Thiago Jollon ('27)(debut)
Girls’ XC finished an impressive 3 rd place of 12 teams and saw the return of captain Corinne Spade, who led the team by claiming 7th place overall. Following closely behind was Maddie Marshall ('29), Anya Casey ('28), Sophie Stetson ('29), and Maeve Burns ('30).
The Girls' JV team placed 2nd of 9 teams. Leading the way was Molly Nara ('30). In Molly's debut 5k, she finished in second place overall. Helping Andover secure their team 2nd-place finish was Claire Donovan ('29) in 4th place overall and Emma Hong ('28) in 7th place overall. Also in the Girls' JV race, Big Blue showcased 4 runners new to the 5k: Myra Zheng ('30), Eleanor McBride ('30), Alex Burger ('30), and Jessica Hong ('30). Rounding out the group, Evelyn Marshall ('28) and Fatima Bah ('29) ran well for the Blue!
