Big Blue Shout Outs

CONGRATULATIONS TO GIRLS’ VARSITY XC (pictured above) FOR WINNING THE DIVISION I NEPSTA CHAMPIONSHIP AT HOTCHKISS ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

Captain Emma Hagstrom (19:33.03) led the way in the varsity race followed by Anya Budzinski, Amelia Alvazzi, Zoe von Eckartsberg, Hannah Jung, Tara Menon, and Chloe Song.

The JV girls’ XC team finished in a strong second place behind a first-place effort by ninth grader Ela Budzinski. Following Ela were teammates Tasha Bohorad, Yara Handschin, Tayla Stempson, Emily Ney, Nafissatou Diagne, Evelyn Marshall, Ibuki Hana, Abby Odden, and Emma Hong.

This is the first championship title for head coach Keri Lambert who took the girls’ XC program in fall 2020! Congratulations, Keri!!!!

Congratulations to our boys’ varsity XC team who raced incredibly and finished 2nd overall in the Division I race behind a first-place result from Tam Gavenas. Finishing behind Tam were Arashi Hunter, Charlie Gullick, Arun Kapoor, Luke Williamson, Robert Budzinski, and Sebastian Lemberger.

Congrats to JV boys’ XC who also finished FIRST at the NEPSTA championship behind a tremendous first-place finish from captain Luke Francis. The JV team saw incredible races from teammates Henry Zimmerman, Magnus Julin, Nathan New, Jakob Kuelps, Elliot Weir, Max Langhorst, Sami Tokat, Alfonso Gonzalez Cano, Jack Gonzalez, Adrian Werner, and Cameron Butler.

FALL A-E

A-E, The Fall Edition, hosted by Andover, Ends in an Even Split of the Contests, 2-2-1

On Saturday afternoon, varsity boys’ soccer, varsity girls’ soccer, varsity field hockey (PAFH), varsity volleyball, and varsity football competed against Phillips Exeter on a glorious Saturday afternoon and wrapped the day with 2 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie.

Congratulations to Girls’ Varsity Soccer (GVS) and Field Hockey (PAFH) on shutout wins, 3-0 and 6-0 respectively.

The weekend would not have been the success it was if not for COUNTLESS adults who make it happen.

BVS wrapped up their season with a strong 8-5-3 record. On A-E, Kai Myles ‘27 scored the lone Big Blue goal on a brilliant header. Shout out to first-year head coach Joe Donnelly on a great run and thanks, as well, to returning assistant coach Chris Ishizuka-Wade.

On Saturday afternoon, GVS notched three goals from Sarah Powers ‘26, Lauren Herlihy ‘25, and Emily Mara ‘25 and earned their fourth consecutive shutout behind the efforts of goalkeeper Jackie Dill ‘27.

Still Going...

After strong regular seasons, GVS (12-3-3) and PAFH (16-0) have earned spots in the New England Prep Class A Tournament.

#1 PAFH will host #8 Milton Academy on Wednesday at a time TBD. (Livestream)

Congratulations to all of our JV teams who competed at Exeter on Wednesday with a particular shout-out to the teams and coaches who emerged victorious:

CELEBRATING CLYFE BECKWITH

On Saturday afternoon, we paid tribute to Clyfe Beckwith who coached his final game of girls’ varsity volleyball after 27 seasons at the helm. Clyfe will coach his final season as head coach of boys’ varsity volleyball this spring after 26 seasons in the program.

In total, Clyfe has transformed the volleyball program at Andover across FIFTY-THREE SEASSONS.
