LAKEVILLE, CT – Three weeks after securing the prestigious Eastern Championship, Andover returned to the New England Prep School Athletic Conference Division I Swimming & Diving Championship as the 8-time returning champion. After an excellent preliminary round, Andover was poised for many best times and for a successful defense of the title in Sunday’s final round.
Sunday began with a dominating performance in the 200 Medley Relay; unfortunately, one start was just a bit too speedy, and the squad was disqualified, costing Andover 40 points. By the end of the third event, though, Andover secured the lead in the team race and only built on it as the day continued.
It is not easy to turn around from Easterns and swim even faster at New Englands, but many Andover swimmers were able to pull it off, including: Cale Barker ’28 (50 Free and 100 Fly), Tedy Berman ’25 (Diving), Eric Chang ’28 (100 Free), David Frahm ’26 (Diving), Woori Lee ’26 (200 IM), Eric Nie ’26 (200 Free), Daniel Seong ’25 (100 Breast), Lincoln Tomlinson ’27 (50 Free and 100 Fly), Jay Wei ’27 (100 Free and 100 Back), and Haoyu Zhang ’27 (200 Free).
Across the weekend, Andover had six record-breaking performances. Lincoln Tomlinson broke two 10th
Grade Records: the 50 Free with a time of 20.79, the previous record was 21.05 by Raphael Sibuet ’24, and his own record in the 100 Fly with a time of 49.43. In the prelims of the 100 Breaststroke, Daniel Seong ’25 swam 54.80, breaking both the Meet and Pool records. In the next heat, Pippin Kantakom ’25 swam 54.61, breaking both the records Daniel just set.
A strong nominee for Andover’s swimmer of the meet is Oliver Feng ’25. After hovering around the same best times for months, Oliver broke through. He swam a 20.55 in the 50 Free, placing first, a 45.01 in the 100 Free, placing 2nd, and led off the Medley Relay in a blistering 23.0. These times place Oliver 3rd on Andover’s All Time list in the 50, 2nd in the 100 Free, and 3rd in the Back.
