Pelicans scape with a narrow victory

Andover, MA: The BIG BLUE hosted a very talented Loomis Chaffee team on Phelps Stadium Friday night. Loomis ranked the #2 ranked team in New England, played a fast-paced tempo all evening, making this an exciting chess match between the two teams. In the first half, the Big Blue did a fantastic job at pressuring the visitors and made them turn the ball over numerous times in dangerous positions that put us in great scoring opportunities. In the second half, the Big Blue pushed numbers up against a team that is clinical countering. Unfortunately, our chances were met by a firm visiting backline and an excellent goalkeeper. Loomis would convert the lone goal of the evening 30 minutes into the game after two consecutive and controversial no-calls by the refs that led to the visitors scoring. In the second half, both teams battled up and down the field, but neither could find the net, and the game ended 0-1 in favor of the visitors. We tip our cap to Loomis; they are a fantastic side. We hope that those who came to support us got a good show, and we hope to see you again this coming Wednesday at 4 PM on Smoyer Field.
