Track and field at Andover has a rich history and a solid foundation. Our program often consists of more than 100 student-athletes. Team spirit and unity are at the core of our program. Students support each other and are committed to the team. Strong emphasis is placed on balancing physical training with mental training, strength training, good nutrition and recovery.

Each year, Andover competes for the New England Prep School Division I championship title. In recent years, Andover won the Division I title in 2017, 2011, 2010 and 2006. Andover athletes also hold league records in the 400m, 800m, 3000m and 4x400m relay.

Andover, founded in 1778 by Samuel Phillips, and Exeter, founded in 1781 by his uncle John Phillips, have maintained the oldest, continuous independent school rivalry in the country. The first competition between the two schools took place in 1889. Andover won! The tradition continues each May and is a highlight of the season.

Fully renovated in 2015, the Sorota Track & Field facility is an 8-lane, all-weather 400m outdoor track with accompanying first-rate field event facilities including four long/triple jump pits, three shot rings, a full javelin runway, a collegiate disc cage, high jump pit, and two pole vault runways. All this is tied together with a FinishLynx system that captures FAT results for all competitors.

Run to live. Live to run.
