Andover Beats Exeter in Exciting Season Finale

Andover was able to hold off Exeter in the final minutes of the game to preserve the win 9-8.

In the final game of the season, Andover girls took on Exeter in what was a highly entertaining game to the finish. Andover started strong with an early goal from Sarah Rigazio '18 assisted by Ananda Kao '18. Exeter responded to this early effort with two of their own to take the lead. With five minutes left, Andover turned up the intensity and put in three goals before the half time. Katherine McIntire '19, Sarah Rigazio '18 and Lilly Feeney '20 each put their own goals past the Exeter keeper. Exeter scored once more after Andover’s flurry. Taking the game to half time at 4-3 Andover. After the half, the game intensity really turned up as both schools’ supporters cheered and the players brought new energy to the field. Ashley Tucker '18 had an early goal after the half assisted by Carly Kreytak '20, followed by goals from Kelly McCarthy '19, Meg Ward '19, and another from Tucker '18. Ward '19 finished off the scoring with a final goal with 3:23 left in the game. Brooke Keough '19 wrapped up the day with 3 clutch assists. In a very close finish, Andover beat Exeter to it on the day 9-8 and are the champions of A&E 2018. A brilliant finish to a fantastic season!
