Wrestlers compete at Nationals

Vinny Marino '19 and Eamon Garrity-Rokous '19 each won two matches at the Prep School National Championships held at Lehigh University this weekend.
The Big Blue wrestlers wrapped up their season at the National Prep School Wrestling championships held at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania on Friday & Saturday, February 22-23. Two PA wrestlers qualified to compete, and each won two matches against some very tough competition. Vinny Marino ’19 competed at 132 pounds. He opened his tournament with a dominating first period pin in the Round of 32, before dropping a 19-6 match in the second round to the #4 seed. Moving to the consolations, Marino won a hard-fought 6-2 decision, before bowing out in his next match. Marino concludes the season with 22 wins. Co-captain Eamon Garrity-Rokous competed at 152 pounds, and like Marino, won his first-round bout, by a score of 15-1. In the second round Garrity-Rokous came up against the #3 seed and lost 15-0. Rebounding in the wrestle backs, he won his next match 15-0, before a tough 9-2 loss ended his run. Garrity-Rokous concluded the season with a team-high 23 wins, and has 63 wins his PA career, with a season to go. Overall, the Blue scored 12.5 team points, good for 48th place in the 122-team field.
