Big Blue goes 2-1 at Seabrooke Duals

The Big Blue wrestlers went 2-1 at the Seabrooke Duals held at Phillips Exeter Academy, defeating Tabor Academy 69-6 and Portsmouth Abbey 58-18, but falling to Northfield Mount Hermon, 63-7.
Senior co-captain Pablo Sanchez went 3-0 at 182 pounds to lead the Big Blue to a 2-1 record at the Seabrooke Duals on Saturday. In the opening meet, Andover defeated Tabor Academy 69-6, behind pins from Matt Suri, Ellerman Mateo, Vinny Marino, Gordon Paiva, Jack O'Neil, and Eamon Garrity-Rokous, plus a thrilling 3-1 victory in overtime by Sanchez. In their next meet, the Blue fell to Northfield Mount Hermon, the top team in New England Prep, by a score of 63-7. The individual bouts were more competitive than the final score would indicate. The Blue got a 12-4 win from Arnav Bhakta and a 6-1 win by Sanchez. In the third dual against Portsmouth Abbey, Andover emerged victorious, 58-18. Pins by Marino, Paiva, O'Neil, Garrity-Rokous and Sanchez aided the Big Blue cause, plus a dominating 14-3 major decision by Riggs McGrath. David Wang added a victory in an exhibition match. Andover concludes their dual meet season with a record of 5-8, and 3-3 in the Class A league. Next up is the Girls Tournament on Sunday January 27, and the Northern Tournament, on Saturday February 2nd.
