Wrestlers host Interschols, take third

Twelve Andover wrestlers placed in the top six as the Big Blue placed 3rd of 10 teams in the 2019 Class A Interschols at home on Saturday.

The Phillips Academy wrestling team turned in a strong performance in placing 3rd out of 10 teams in the Class A League tournament held at home on Saturday. Twelve wrestlers earned top-six place finishes, led by co-captains Eamon Garrity-Rokous (2nd at 152) and Pablo Sanchez (2nd at 182). Fast-improving Arnav Bhakta took 2nd at 106, with Vinny Marino, Ramphis Media and Nick Buhler all placing third. Jack O'Neil placed fourth, earning his third career Class A medal, and Matt Suri took fifth, for his second. Northfield-Mount Hermon topped Phillips Exeter for the team title. Eleven Andover wrestlers have qualified to compete in the New England Prep tournament next weekend at Greens Farms Academy in Connecticut.
