Four medalists at NE Prep Tournament

Bausano '18 and Cohen '18 qualify for Nationals
Four Phillips Academy wrestlers earned top-six place finishes at the 2018 New England Independent School Wrestling Association championships held at Tabor Academy on Friday & Saturday, February 16 & 17. Adam Cohen ’18 led the way by placing fourth from his #6 seed at 220 pounds, defeating a foe who had beaten him twice previously this season along the way. Co-captains Pierce Bausano ‘18 (5th at 182) and Pablo Sanchez ’19 (7th at 195) were joined by Eamon Garrity-Rokous ’20 (7th at 152) as fellow medalists. Andover’s 49 team points were good for 15th in the 44-team field. Belmont Hill School wrestled well in winning the team title. Garrity-Rokous won four of six matches on the weekend and now has a team-leading 21 wins on the season. Cohen also reached 20 wins and has 52 wins in his career. Bausano stands 18-6 on the season and has 56 wins in his career. Also competing well for the Blue were Matt Suri ’21 at 113 pounds and Nick Masri ’19 at 132. Both Bausano and Cohen have qualified for the National Prep School tournament at Lehigh University this weekend, February 23-24. It will Bausano’s second trip to the big dance.
