Four PA wrestlers competed at the 2017 National Prep tournament at Lehigh University. John O'Brien '17 led the team with three wins en route to a 48th-place team finish.

John O’Brien ’17 rebounded from an opening-round loss to win three consecutive matches in the consolation bracket and reach the final twelve at 285 pounds to lead Andover’s effort at the 82nd annual National Prep School Wrestling Championships held at Lehigh University February 24-25. Selected to the tournament as a wild-card entry, O’Brien outperformed all other New England competitors and finished just an overtime loss away from a top-eight finish. Haroldo Nesbeth ’17 dropped his first round bout 7-1, then received a bye in the first round of consolations before a 9-5 win propelled him to the third round, where a tight 2-1 loss eliminated him from the competition. Co-captain Pierce Bausano ’18 dropped a hard-fought 10-8 match in the consolations at 182 pounds. Eamon Garrity-Rokous ’20 competed well against tough competition at 145 pounds, losing his two matches 7-0 and 6-0, and gaining valuable experience. Garrity-Rokous and Bausano are eligible to return next year and hope to make a splash. O’Brien ends the season with a team-high 25 wins, followed by Nesbeth with 22, Bausano with 21 and Garrity-Rokous with 19. Andover’s 11 team points was good for 48th place among the 122-team field, and sixth among New England Prep Schools. Blair Academy took the team title with 306.5 points to edge out Wyoming Seminary at 272. Phillips Exeter led New England schools with 62.5 points and 13th place. Belmont Hill’s Phil Conigliaro became a rare individual champ from New England Prep by winning the 145-lb title with a thrilling 1-0 match in the finals.
