Big Blue places seventh at NE tournament

Haroldo Nesbeth's championship at 138 pounds led four Big Blue place winners at the Prep New England tournament. Andover finished in 7th place of the 46 competing teams.
The Phillips Academy wrestling team finished in seventh place out of 46 teams at the New England Prep School tournament held at the Hyde School in Bath, Maine on Friday & Saturday, February 17-18. Eight competitors represented the Big Blue and four came away with top-eight place finishes, led by Haroldo Nesbeth’s dominating performance at 138 pounds. Nebseth took on four foes over the weekend and defeated them all by pin, three in the first period, spending a total of just 6 minutes and 53 seconds on the mat. He improved his season record to 22-0. Fellow PG John O’Brien placed seventh at heavyweight and is now tied with Nesbeth for the team lead at 22 wins. Co-captain Pierce Bausano ’18 placed sixth at 182 and now has 21 wins on the season. Eamon Garrity-Rokous ’20 won five matches over the weekend to place fourth from his #8 seed and has 19 wins. Also competing well for Andover were Connor Haugh ’17, Martha Gao ’17, Adam Cohen ’18 and Pablo Sanchez ’19. Bausano, Nesbth and Garrity-Rokous have qualified to compete at the Prep School National tournament held this coming weekend at Lehigh University.
