Andover Races at Cross Country Interschols

The boys finished 5th out of 15 teams in both the varsity and JV races at the NEPSTA Division I Interscholastic Cross Country Championships at Avon Old Farms.

Captain Alex Fleury '20 finished 1st for Andover, 7th overall, in a season's-best time of 16:19, and earned All-New England honors. He was followed by Jacob Buehler '19, who finished in 17:05; Michael Turner '20 and Hugo Solomon '19, who finished together in 17:18; Will Hetherington '20, who finished in 17:25; Anthony Minickiello '20, who finished in 17:39; and Ellerman Mateo '21, who finished in 17:42. These 3rd through 7th finishers all ran PR's. Loomis Chaffee's Matt Farrell '20 won the varsity race, and the NMH team placed 1st, just one point ahead of Exeter. In the JV race, Sam Capobianco '21, just back from injury, finished 1st for Andover, 14th overall, in a time of 18:00. He was followed by Doug Yang '20 in 18:46, Isaac Heitmann '22 in 19:13 (PR), Max Fang '22 in 19:13 (PR), Riku Tanaka '20 in 19:15, Sam Lasater '21 in 19:26, Sam Baxter-Bray '20 in 19:30 (PR), Riley Gillis '19 in 19:31, and John Michael Kinney '20 in 19:57. Exeter's Sam Kim '20 won the JV race, and his team placed 1st. The Andover boys thank Avon for hosting a great meet and are already looking forward to the 2019 cross-country season!
