On the Great Lawn, Alex Fleury '20 pulls away from Deerfield's Number 1 to win the varsity race. Doug Yang '20 runs a 42-second PR to win the JV race.
The second and last home meet of the season was a happy one for the Andover boys: 24 runners, including 1 debut; 18 PR's, for a total of 7 minutes and 45 seconds of time cut; and 2 wins. In the varsity race, captain Alex Fleury '20 ran neck and neck with Deerfield's terrific Ricardo Gonzalez until the final turn on the Great Lawn, where Fleury made his move and out-kicked Gonzalez to win by three seconds. Gonzalez was followed by Andover's Jacob Buehler '19, Hugo Solomon '19, Will Hetherington '20, and Ellerman Mateo '21. In the JV race, Doug Yang '20 and Riku Tanaka '20 ran brilliantly to break through Deerfield's pack up front. Yang finished first for the win, and Tanaka hung on to finish between Deerfield's first and second. Other JV highlights included races by Sam Lasater '21, Isaac Heitmann '22, Max Fang '22. Andover thanks Deerfield for a great meet and looks forward to racing at Exeter on Saturday.
