The Boys' Volleyball team competes during the spring season. This program welcomes experienced players and trains athletes new to the sport. The season includes playing each team in the "founding four" twice during the regular season (Choate, Northfield-Mount Hermon, and Loomis) as well as matches against Andover HS, Lawrence HS,and Central Catholic HS. The season ends with a tournament among the founding four.
Thanks to all our supporters. What a great season.
A successfull 6-2 league record, 7-3 if you count the CC scrimmages, 8-4 if you count the tournament, 8-5 with A/e. Not bad, considering we lost to only one team all season (Exeter).
PAVB 3 - NMH 1. 25-20,18-25,25-18,25-13
Exe 3 - Choate 0
PAVB 1 - EXE 3 25-17,25-27,20-25,15-25
We send our best wishes to the Raiders for a successful season, and thank them for our yearly scrimmage tune-up opportunities.
Andover improves its record to 6-2 to close outbthe league season before tournament at NMH next Saturday as the #
Careless mistakes by Andover at the beginning of the first sets put us in the hole from which we could not recover. Spirited play, and some phenomenal volleys (7 or 8 times across the net), hard hits and amazing defense, gave the crowd a spectacular match
Andover had fun playing in front of home crowd; hamming it up during technical difficulties with scorebook.
PAVB overcame a 9-point deficit in the first set, and prevented a come-back by NMH in the third set (like hoggers did last match).
Despite, yet again, an absence of 4 players from the squad PAVB emerges with a victory.
Today’s special mention: Adam Peters and Erik Glover playing opposite in 6-2, and Shaw Xie playing defense and a stint as setter.
Credit to NMH for their fight and determination. On the brink of elimination in the 4th set NMH cane back from a deficit to tie it and force a fifth set.
In the fifth a score of 23-21 was needed for Andiver to outwrestle the hoggers.
Three straight championships and a 3-0 record, Exeter is the team to beat. They bested Andover today with better serving and serve-receive.
Andover traveled to Wilbraham Monson today, leaving campus in sunny but barely above freezing temperatures.
The Titans, relatively inexperienced, showed good spirit. Andover improved its season record to 2-0.
Choate hosted Andover today in our season opener.
The two remaining injuries withstanding we were able to play everyone today, if just for a few points.
Seeing Wallingford and green fields reminded us that spring is coming.
Andover played every able body (3 starters unavailable), in four different style line-ups. Coaches are very happy with PAVB play and prospects.
In our fourth competition against each other this season Exeter cpmletes the season winning all by a score of 3-0. A very good Andover squad, among the top two since 1998, topped by a phenomenal Exeter squad. Congrats to all A/E seniors.
In 2017 Boys Volleyball Tournament @ Choate:
Semifinals: EXE 3 - AND 0; NMH 3 - CHO 0
Finals: EXE 3 - NMH 0
Congrats to Exeter on their three-peat. Thanks to Choate for hosting.
In this annual friendly rivalry, a scrimmage, Andover is living up to the season goal for playing its best volleyball in time for the tournament. Wishing CC all the best in their run to their championship.
PAVB played an outstanding match today and all traveling players made strong individual contributions. Kudos and farewell to W&M coach Donna - it's been a real pleasure coaching with you; your overall contributions fall AND spring seasons are appreciated.
Kudos to Exeter for playing at such a high level and for inspiring Andover to play their best. We ride the bus home inspired to have participated in such a great display of sportsmanship and great volleyball.
NMH played a great match today - kudos to the hoggers. Both sides exhibited some strong hits mixed with plenty of errors to allow the opponent another shot. Both sides were alert on defense, for most plays, but not all.
PA coaches are proud how the team battled with a new line-up, (college visits) and with a tad too much congestion and allergy symptoms.
This win felt good from the perspective of avenging the close loss from the first 5-set match we played against Choate, but just as much because we had the bench contributing to the win by coming in for injuries and fatigue during the match.
Hats off to Choate for staying alive and taking advantage of PA errors in the third set (mostly serving errors and unpreparedness) turning the tide and closing out the first of our doubleheader matches today.
While Andover kept pace in the first set, Exeter found their groove at the close of the first set and could do nothing wrong in the second set. In the third Andover got some good blocks and hits in again to give them competition. Kudos to Exeter.
Everyone available got some playing time today. The starting rotation looked comfortable, and while the substitutions caused some hiccups they also settled into a good routine.
After getting snowed out on Saturday (postponed until April 15, when we will play a double header against Choate then NMH) our opener was today against Central Catholic.
