Andover Boys JV2 Soccer finishes season UNDEFEATED with a huge road win against a superb Belmont Hill side, an historically tough win for PA to get.

We battled against the rain, WIND, WIND and some more WIND against a superb Belmont Hill team on the road. It was a scrappy match from start to end as the the weather made playing conditions difficult for both sides. For many years Andover has never really done well against Belmont Hill, and with the slow start for Big Blue, their battling a strong Belmont Hill team, and tough weather, it looked like the soccer gods would remain in favor for the home team. That was until Andover made some key substitutions midway through the first half to give some extra energy upfront. Big man Myles Ringel, normally the back up keeper, was asked to play up front and boy did it pay off. Andover delivered a teasing ball into the penalty box of Belmont Hill. Having failed to clear their line, Myles used his big presence and speed to bundle in a scrappy goal to give Andover the lead it needed to settle the game down for PA. Once Andover went ahead, the boys got the extra bit of lift they needed to see them through the first half, and 5 minutes later got their second goal of the game. Then a foul was committed by Belmont Hill in the left channel 30 yards from goal. Corwin McCormack took the free kick to deliver a ball towards the penalty area. The Belmont Hill keeper came racing off his line to claim the ball and was beaten to it by Nolan Sun who ran in front of the keeper and leapt up in the air to head into an empty net, giving Big Blue a two - nil lead at half time. The second half was about preserving the scoreline for the win and the boys played a brilliant defensive second half. Though Andover did create some great chances within the first fifteen minutes with some key break aways from Alexander Oder, we just couldn't quite convert and increase the lead to seal the game. For the last 25 minutes Andover was organized and disciplined in their roles and responsibilities giving zero clear chances for the entire match to Belmont Hill, thus allowing Phineas Walsh another clean sheet. With a win in their last match of the season, the Andover Boys JV2 team finished UNDEFEATED with 5 wins and 2 draws, scoring 16 goals and conceding only 4 goals. Job well done, lads. GO BIG BLUE!
