Boys’ Hockey Prevails In Thrilling OT Victory

On December 2, 2018 at 2:00 PM

Excellent team defense and penalty killing once again provided for a fantastic ending of the second of back to back games at Tabor. Manty, Powers tallied and Archer helped keep it close.

After a gut wrenching 1-0 victory over strong Albany Academy, the team came out carefully and was able to shut down Tabor’s offense. Then Manty broke the seal and whizzed a beauty by the Tabor goalie’s arm. Tabor scored late in the second on a breakaway and the score remained 1-1 all the way, thanks to more splendid play by goalie Archer. Now on to OT! Both teams gave everything they had, and players were getting tired. Then, off an offensive zone face off with just a minute to go, senior captain Christian Powers won the draw and PG Mac Carso picked up the puck and made a backhand pass to Manty in the slot who deflected it nicely back to Powers who had slipped behind the advancing Tabor line. With a nifty move to the right, then to the left, he popped the puck up and over a sprawling Tabor netminder. Good weekend.
