Varsity Baseball Opens with 3-1 Win over Bridgton Academy

Matt Sapienza '21 pitched three strong innings, before L.J. Keevan ’21 earned a save with four innings of shutout relief, as Andover opened its 2019 campaign with a 3-1 win over Bridgton Academy at the New England Baseball Complex.

Keevan '21 Sapienza scattered four hits and one unearned run, striking out five and walking one. KEEVAN (pictured) struck out six and allowed just one hit in relief.

Andover opened with a run in the bottom of the first as Lucas Stowe ‘20 reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on a sac fly by Jackson Emus ’19. Andover tacked on two more in the bottom of the second as Jack Palfrey ’21 reached on an infield error and scored on a wild pitch, and Andrew Ciufo ’21 singled home Jack Penney ’21.

Ciufo ’19 and Penney ’21 each had two hits to pace the offense.
