Emus ‘19 Pitches, Slugs Varsity Baseball Past Dexter in League-Opener

Jackson Emus ’19 smacked an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning and pitched five-and-a-third innings of shutout baseball as Andover remained undefeated with a 1-0 win in its league opener against visiting Dexter.

Keevan '21 Princeton University-bound EMUS (pictured) was stellar on the mound, surrendering just two hits and striking out nine. Southpaw L.J. Keevan ’21 relieved Emus with one out and a runner on board in the sixth and proceeded to earn his second save in as many games for Andover.

The hosts prevailed despite leaving nine runners on base, with men in scoring position nearly every inning. Andrew Ciufo ’19 doubled and scored Andover’s lone run. Peter Ling ’20 stole a pair of bases in the win.
